The Poetry of Trash

Saturday 14 April 2018, 2.00 – 5.00 pm with Emilie Dufresne

Emilie Dufresne ran a workshop on Trash-Poems exploring how we can use found objects and words in the form of trash and repurpose and recycle them into something new, something of value.

The workshop involved a hands-on approach, as we found our own trash to work with in the workshop.

We thought of different ways to assemble the words and textures of trash, in ways that complemented or juxtaposed each other, both in appearance and meaning.

We discussed why we chose certain items and words and why we assembled our poems in the way we did, and then talked about the choices we made in this process and why.

The workshop was suitable for both experienced poets and people who are looking to start writing. Materials were provided on the day and participants brought along a journal and pen for short introductory exercises and jotting ideas.
