Meet Pete Yeo

Join us for a lunchtime treat on Friday 5 September to meet the celebrated plant ecologist Pete Yeo. Pete describes himself as a reconciliation ecologist and nature mentor. Pete Yeo is visiting us from North Devon. He is passionate about connecting people to their wider nature, focussing on more holistic and harmonious relationships with the plant realm.

The future, if humans are to have one, will require us to deepen our understanding of and our relationship with this living planet, and particularly its flora – the green foundation for animal life on Earth.

Pete Yeo facilitates connections between people and the wider web of life – flora especially. He thinks deeply about our relationships with plants and speaks very interestingly about their and our ways of co-existing. For example, he speaks of ‘plantae non-grantae’ rather than invasive species, of conviviality among plants, about the importance of pioneer plants and thier potential in herbal medicine.
He believes deeply that plants offer portals to profound insight and wellbeing, and a future to co-exist within.

New insights from science are meeting ancient spiritual truths, and the mantra ‘All is One’ is increasingly being recognised as a living, intelligent reality. Choosing to embody this connectivity can make life easier for all, and will sync us with the progressive nature of evolution wherein co-operation typically trumps competition as life strategy. Given the great debt that’s easy to forget – full lungs, food, fibre, fuel, and not least feel-good factors – the plant realm is an opportune focus for reconciling us with the web of life.

Pete also likes to offer all kinds of help, advice, guidence: “I’d be delighted to help inform and empower your own relationship with your garden or land. Plus, I’d be happy to (freely) refer you to specific nature connectors, such as foragers, herbalists or permaculturalists.”
